Greetings Gentle Visitors;

I could not let slip this opportunity of writing Your Lordships to aquaint you how I go in this place.

'Tis above 3 years since we and our children landed in Georgia and being delivered to Mr. Thomas Mouse on Skidaway Island as indentured servants to him and his wife Lucy, have endeavored to make ourselves usefull to this house.

I make bold to inform Your Honours of the improvement belonging to our lott graciously granted by Mr. Mouse. We have built one large hutt that is twenty four by sixteen thereon with a small plot pailed in to enclose our house garden. I am now to inform Your Honours that the ground brings forth plenty of callavances and herbs of various sorts which supply us well in the kitchen as well as pease and melons of different varieties.

I am honourned to be called upon to serve in the militia under Mr. Jones of Wormsloe and to tale my turn at watch over this place of wettlement when assigned by the Tything Man.
We pray that when our indenture is completed that we may be granted by Your Honours mercies a lott of our own whereon we may raise our inheritance.

We remain your most humble and obedient servants;

John and Margaret Smith
